PRP Hair Loss Treatments in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Perth, Canberra & Adelaide

PRP stands for platelet-rich plasma. This hair loss treatment involves three steps. First, the nurse collects blood, which is drawn from the patient’s arm. The blood is processed in a centrifuge, which separates the platelets. Then, the platelet-rich plasma is injected into the regions of the scalp where the hair is thinning combined with micro-needling the entire scalp.

PRP is rich in white blood cells and growth factors, which can send messages to skin cells to function as optimally as they can. The PRP is precisely injected at half-inch intervals across thinning or bald areas combined with micro-needling the entire scalp.

Injecting combined with micro-needling PRP into the scalp can boost blood supply to the follicle. It helps to activate natural hair growth and can make the hair shaft thicker. Some of the reasons that it’s an ideal option for hair loss are that PRP can increase hair count, encourages thickness and can extend the hair cycle’s growth stage.

Because the treatment uses your own blood, you don’t have to worry about being at risk of a communicable disease. You’ll grow your own hair naturally. Therefore, it can be an effective and safe way to regrow hair for suitable candidates with hair loss. Candidates for this treatment may include people with:

Genetic hair loss

Stress-related hair loss

Androgenic Apolecia

Hormonal related hair loss

Menopause related hair loss

Age related hair loss

Alopecia related hair loss

People with early hair loss tend to respond best to this therapy. You can even use this type of hair loss treatment in combination with other regrowth methods.

Recovery & additional treatments

Following the procedure, in some rare circumstances, your scalp may be sore, but many patients don’t experience any discomfort. You can go about your daily activities immediately. Just don’t shampoo your hair or do strenuous exercise for 12 hours after the treatment.

Treatments should be performed every 2-3 weeks for approximately 6 to 12 times in order to achieve optimum results. A top-up treatment may be required at the 3 month point depending on the results obtained.

What a PRP hair loss treatment procedure looks like

Patients who opt for PRP hair regrowth treatment have a small amount of blood drawn before continuing the therapy. The blood is processed in a centrifuge, which splits up the various components.

The platelet-rich plasma is removed and injected into the scalp using an extremely fine needle combined with micro-needling the entire scalp.

Cosmetic nurses meticulously place the tiny injections into the thinning areas or where hair loss is present. These injections make contact with the root of the follicles which can trigger growth.

We also use a technique called micro-needling on the entire scalp, which can encourage blood circulation, helping stimulate hair follicles.

PRP treatment has a well-documented success rate in hair regrowth, with numerous clinical studies supporting its effectiveness. By injecting concentrated platelets directly into the scalp, PRP encourages cellular repair and tissue regeneration, resulting in thicker, stronger hair. Many clients experience visible improvements within three months, including increased hair density, reduced hair shedding, and a healthier scalp overall. Our clients consistently report high satisfaction with their long-lasting results.

This procedure is usually best for people with mild to moderate hair loss. Because it can promote natural hair growth, it can only work if you have active hair follicles that are still active. Men who are completely or almost completely bald usually have inactive hair follicles or hair follicles that no longer exist.
The needles that are used for this procedure are very fine. The injections don’t normally hurt for most, however, some clients can experience discomfort on certain areas of the scalp.
Side effects are possible with any cosmetic procedure. However, the risks of potential adverse reactions from this PRP hair loss treatment are generally low. Some soreness or bruising may occur, but it is rare.
Most people can start to notice hair regrowth within three months. It can take up to 12 months for you to notice a significant difference in the overall thickness and quality of your hair.
Every patient is different, but it is recommended that people initially undergo treatment every 2-3 weeks. Getting regular treatments can help ensure that the hair follicles are continually stimulated. After the initial 6 sessions, it is recommended that patients have a ‘top up’ treatment every 2 to 6 months, depending on them as an individual.

Each treatment takes approximately 30 minutes. The length of time necessary for each visit depends on the area that’s being treated. The needles that are used are extremely fine, making the procedure almost pain free.

People who undergo PRP hair loss treatment usually notice a dramatic decrease in shedding fairly soon. Their hair may begin to sprout, and it can often grow faster than expected. Still, it can take some time to notice the change. Hair grows usually about half an inch every month. Hair and Skin Science has found that patients usually notice significant results in 3 months from the beginning of treatment, with patients normally experiencing maximum results up to 12 months.
The results of PRP treatment are usually most significant after 3 months. Most patients usually require touch-up injections once every 3-6 months.
You don’t have to do anything differently after undergoing PRP therapy for hair regrowth. You can return to work and your regular activity. You won’t be able to shampoo your hair or do vigorous exercise for 12 hours, though.
We strongly recommend patients check if their PRP provider performing the PRP hair or skin treatment is performed at a minimum by a registered nurse. Registered nurses are trained in patient safety and hygiene protocols.

We also recommend patients confirm if an Australian medical doctor has contributed to the treatment protocols.
