About our patented growth factors (for hair) in Australia

Patented growth factors (PGF) is a new technology that can be used as a powerful alternative to PRP (platelet rich plasma).

PGFs work by supplementing the natural growth factor production that decreases as we age. It can reverse the cell ageing process, fade scars, and boost the body’s natural repair process for hair follicles and skin.

Patented growth factors contain a high concentration of conditioned media that retain specific growth factors, cytokines, and interleukins. This technology was originally discovered through wound healing and cell regeneration therapy in 3rd degree burn victims. PGFs use advanced cell sorting technology, allowing for greater penetration and effectiveness.

Hair and Skin Science is proudly the only medical cosmetic clinic in Australia to offer Patented growth factors as a potential solution for hair loss. Our PGFs are formulated with specificity and maintained stability, providing you with the best opportunity to maximise results.

Patented growth factors can be effective for:

Genetic related hair loss

Stress related hair loss

Alopecia related hair loss

Hormonal related hair loss

Age related hair loss

Patients with very low pain tolerance

Limited availability

A maximum of only two treatments per patient is currently available – this is due to the demand and very limited supply of the product.

What the procedure looks like…

Patients who opt for patented growth factors are looking for a powerful alternative to PRP. Unlike PRP, PGFs is already prepared in a sterile vial and does not require blood to be taken from the patient. The prepared PGFs is drawn up in a small needle by a registered nurse and is then the entire scalp is micro-needed. This hair loss treatment is ideal for patients with a very low pain tolerance.

We also use a technique called micro-needling on the entire scalp, which can also encourage blood circulation, helping stimulate hair follicles.

Recovery & additional treatments

Following the procedure, in some rare circumstances, your scalp may be mildly sore, but many patients don’t experience any discomfort. You can go about your daily activities immediately. Just don’t shampoo your hair or do strenuous exercise for 12 hours after the treatment.

Patented Growth Factors for Women

About 40 percent of women can experience hair loss and thinning by the time they’re 50. In Women, the thinning usually starts at the part line, and they may develop sparse areas at the temple.

Patented Growth Factors for men

A powerful alternative to PRP. PGF has been engineered to be a non-surgical & non invasive option for men who are experiencing hair loss and thinning. The most common culprit of male hair loss is male pattern baldness.

We strongly recommend patients check if their patented growth factors (PGFs) treatment provider performing the treatment is performed at a minimum by a registered nurse. Registered nurses are trained in patient safety and hygiene protocols.

We also recommend patients confirm if an Australian medical doctor has contributed to the treatment protocols.
This procedure is usually best for people with mild to moderate hair loss. Because it can promote natural hair growth, it can only work if you have active hair follicles that are still active. Men who are completely or almost completely bald usually have inactive hair follicles or hair follicles that no longer exist.
Injections are not performed during this treatment. The entire scalp is micro-needled without injections. This is the ideal hair loss treatment that is suitable for people with a very low pain threshold.
Side effects are possible with any cosmetic procedure. However, the risks of potential adverse reactions from human fibroblast growth factors hair loss treatment are generally low. Some soreness or bruising may occur, but it is rare.
Every patient is different, but it is recommended that people use this treatment in combination with PRF. Getting regular treatments can help ensure that the hair follicles are continuously stimulated. Due to the limited supply of these patented growth factors, we are only able to allocate a maximum of two treatments per patient.

Each treatment takes approximately 30 minutes. The length of time necessary for each visit depends on the area that’s being treated. The needles that are used are extremely fine, making the procedure almost pain free.

People who undergo patented growth factor treatment can notice a dramatic decrease in shedding fairly soon. Their hair may begin to sprout, and it can often grow faster than expected. Still, it can take some time to notice the change. Hair grows usually about half an inch every month. Hair and Skin Science has found that patients usually notice significant results in 3 months from the beginning of treatment, with patients normally experiencing maximum results up to 12 months.
You don’t have to do anything differently after undergoing patented growth factor therapy for hair regrowth. You can return to work and your regular activity. You won’t be able to shampoo your hair or do vigorous exercise for 12 hours, though.
